Diabetes Education Open House Set for Nov. 14

11.06.2018

Patients of Munson Medical Center’s Diabetes Education and Self-Management program as well as the general public are invited to learn about the resources available to them to help manage their diabetes during an open house from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Munson Medical Center.

The meeting will be in Dining Room 2, which is located within the hospital’s Cafeteria.

Diabetes Education Coordinator Tara Rybicki, R.D., C.D.E., said diabetes educators will be on hand to share findings of the 2017 Regional Survey Results that show a need for the Northern Michigan Diabetes Initiative and Diabetes Education services.

“November 14 is World Diabetes Day and we see this open house as a good time to encourage those diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes to take advantage of the classes and resources available locally to successfully manage or even prevent the disease,” Rybicki said.

Diabetes educators will also be on hand to share information about available classes and participants can learn more about living with diabetes including nutrition, physical activity, and managing their condition.

Munson Medical Center’s Diabetes Education office offers pre-diabetes classes, type 1 diabetes education, type 2 diabetes education, gestational diabetes education, and medical nutrition therapy.
