Manistee Hospital Partners with TAA for Anesthesia Care

Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital recently strengthened its partnership with Traverse Anesthesia Associates (TAA). A single specialty medical professional group with more than 50 years of experience caring for patients in our region, TAA now provides anesthesia at Manistee Hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a team of highly skilled anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs).

“TAA had provided backup coverage for Manistee Hospital previously,” said James Barker, CEO of Manistee Hospital. “As we reviewed our model of care to ensure full-time coverage while improving efficiency and promoting patient safety, we reached out to TAA to develop a plan to meet the needs of our patients. We knew from our prior experience that TAA shared our commitment to quality and excellence.”

“TAA anesthesiologists and CRNAs have enjoyed working with the team in Manistee, so we are pleased to be the full-time anesthesia provider for Manistee Hospital,” said anesthesiologist Robert Carmody, MD, who serves as the department’s medical director. “Our team is happy to work in Manistee. The hospital staff are skilled and compassionate, the community is lovely, and you can’t beat the natural beauty of the area.”

Manistee Hospital surgeons have been pleased with the care provided by the professionals from TAA. “Having consistent coverage in the OR through TAA has been an asset,” said Chief of Staff Charles Keoleian, MD. “We work with a group of physicians and CRNAs who are familiar with our surgical team, equipment, and procedures. That reliable relationship builds trust, which promotes patient safety and a positive experience.”

TAA has a longstanding relationship with Munson Healthcare, also serving Munson Medical Center, Northwest Michigan Surgery Center, Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital, and Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. TAA’s experts are trained in the full range of anesthesia services, from light sedation to general anesthesia, as well as regional options, such as epidurals. “Our patients can trust the care they receive from our colleagues with TAA,” said Keoleian.
