Munson Healthcare Hospitals Join Medication Takeback Day

Munson Healthcare facilities will join the national DEA’s Fall Medication Take Back Event Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m by reminding area residents of drop-off sites in their communities.

Residents in Cadillac, Charlevoix, Frankfort, Gaylord, Grayling, Manistee, and Traverse City are invited to bring their unused and outdated medications for disposal on Oct. 26 or any day.

“DEA Takeback Day really serves as a reminder that we all play a very important role in stemming the opioid epidemic,” said Christina Nowak, manager of Community Health for Munson Healthcare. “Keep loved ones and your community safe by disposing of unused medications on a regular basis.”

Munson Healthcare has designated MedSafe medical disposal boxes at:

  • Cadillac Hospital – Main Lobby
  • Charlevoix Hospital – Emergency Department lobby
  • Foster Family Community Health Center in Traverse City – Pharmacy
  • Grayling Hospital – Main Lobby
  • Kalkaska Memorial Health Center – Main Lobby
  • Manistee Hospital – Main Lobby
  • Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord – Main Lobby
  • Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort – Main Lobby

Acceptable medications include pills, tablets, and capsules. Needles, sharps, and liquids cannot be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, no questions are asked.
