caring for your baby
Neonatologists are the team leaders and provide the primary management of infants. Your infant will be seen by a neonatologist, a physician who is board-certified in the critical care of newborn infants. Neonatologists are the team leaders and provide the primary management of infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). They are available to our staff 24 hours per day. Neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs) will oversee your infant’s care with the neonatologist. They have an advanced degree and are licensed to perform many of the duties of a physician. Our team also includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, and lactation consultants. Other specialists or therapists may be involved in a baby’s care as well. If you would like to discuss your baby’s care with any of these specialists, at any time, please let your nurse know.
We provide weekly care conferences for parents and members from these groups. If you are unable to attend, we can arrange a phone conference for you.
