Stroke Club Discusses Smart 911 Program

Meeting will be June 12 at The Presbyterian Church in Traverse City

Steve Hanna, of Grand Traverse County 9-1-1 Central Dispatch, will discuss Smart911, a program that is now available free of charge to all citizens in Grand Traverse County, at the Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club on Wednesday, June 12.

Smart911 enables citizens to create a Safety Profile online at that can include any information about their household that they want 9-1-1 to have in an emergency. When a 9-1-1 call is made, their profile is immediately delivered to the 9-1-1 dispatcher, resulting in far greater effectiveness in emergency response and more lives saved.

Jamel Anderson will present the program from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster Road in Traverse City. For more information, contact facilitators Melinda Hollands, L.M.S.W., or Angela Leete, L.M.S.W., at Munson Medical Center’s Social Work Department at (231) 935-6380.

The Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club meets the second Wednesday of each month and offers stroke survivors and support persons the opportunity to learn, share, and connect with one another through speakers, demonstrations, and group discussions.
