The 5K Walk, 5K Run, and 1 Mile Fun Run features sections of the VASA trail. Health Fair exhibits and a silent auction will be available from 8 - 11:30 a.m. with information important to both women and men, including early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and post treatment care.
Door prizes will be given away starting at 8:15 a.m.
Preregistration is $30. A specially-designed technical t-shirt is included with all registrations. Registration on event day is $35. All proceeds go to the Munson Medical Center Women’s Cancer Fund, administered by the Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation, to provide financial assistance to women in the community who are fighting cancer.
The 5K Walk and the 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run begin at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring pledges from family and friends for additional fundraising. Prizes will go to those who raise $400 or more. This year the event will hold a Team Challenge starting at 9 a.m. This is the only competitive division of the event. Teams will compete for prizes in three categories: best dressed, fastest five person cumulative time, most funds raised.
Early packet pickup is Oct. 3, noon - 8 p.m. at Benjamin Twiggs, Campus Plaza, in Traverse City. Also Oct. 3, Benjamin Twiggs, Jimmy Johns, Wild Birds Unlimited, Korner Gem, Garden Grounds, and Copy Queenz are donating 15 percent of sales to the Women’s Cancer Fund.
This event has raised over $174,557 and remains the number one fund raiser for the Women’s Cancer Fund. They are looking to break the 2011 record of $30,425.
This year’s Platinum and Gold Sponsors are Jimmy John’s, TV 7&4, Traverse City Track Club, Timber Ridge Resort, and Blue Care Network.
