Munson Medical Center Vice President Named COO
Derk Pronger joined the hospital in 2012 and will lead daily operations

Munson Medical Center President Al Pilong announced Vice President of Operations Derk Pronger has been appointed chief operating officer of the hospital.

The Traverse City-raised health care executive joined the hospital in June 2012 after serving in several positions at Beaumont Health System. The move is part of a restructuring within the organization to better align it for the changes occurring within the health care industry.

As chief operating officer, Pronger will be responsible for daily operations and inpatient-related departments at the hospital. “Derk has proven to be an effective hospital administrator,” Pilong said. “He brings strong leadership qualities to the organization and is a well-respected leader at the hospital.”

Pronger received his master’s degree in health services administration from University of Detroit Mercy, an undergraduate degree in accounting from Purdue University, and an associate’s degree from Northwestern Michigan College.

“I am privileged to work with a strong leadership team at the hospital for the residents of northwest Michigan,” Pronger said.

Pronger is a fellow with The American College of Healthcare Executives and The Advisory Board.
