Neurosurgeon Explains Solutions for Back Pain J. Eric Zimmerman, M.D., offers free seminar on June 24 Back pain is a symptom that may stem from a variety of conditions in the spine and typically can be eased through proper diagnosis and treatment. Chronic back pain can lead to inactivity, loss of conditioning, and changes in self-image, creating a significant impact on self-esteem and the activities of daily living. Munson Medical Center neurosurgeon J. Eric Zimmerman, M.D., will offer information on various causes of back pain and the corresponding treatment options at a special seminar from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, June 24, at Munson Community Health Center Meeting Rooms A & B. Participants will learn about: • Compression fractures, a condition that can occur as people age and vertebra crack and collapse. • Disc herniation, a condition that occurs when a spinal disc bulges and pushes outside of its normal boundary affecting nerves and creating back pain. • Spinal stenosis, a condition resulting from a narrowing of the spine.
