Kalkaska Eden Center Leader Passes National Exam
Director of Nursing passes nursing home administrator licensing test

Kalkaska Memorial Health Center’s Eden Center Director of Nursing Renee Cunningham, RN, recently passed the nursing home administrator licensing exam.

The exam by the American College of Health Care Administrators allows experienced practitioners to become eligible for ACHCA certification as nursing home or assisted living administrators.

“I took the exam to ensure I had the knowledge to promote and lead our staff to provide high quality care for our residents,” Cunningham said. “It will enhance my understanding of regulations, help my leadership skills, and I will apply these in our resident care.”

Cunningham said Kalkaska Memorial Health Center leaders were supportive and encourage higher levels of education for all employees. The ACHCA exam consisted of 165 questions that covered patient care, state and federal regulations, environment, leadership skills, human resources, and finances.

Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Administrator Jim Austin said Cunningham’s effort is a significant accomplishment.

“Renee’s efforts to prepare for and pass the exam provide assurance to our residents and their families about the quality of our staff who provide care at our Eden Center,” Austin said. “We congratulate her and know that her enhanced knowledge and skills will benefit our patients and the center’s staff.”
