Pediatrician Offers Help for Overweight Children
Problems with obesity among young continue to grow

Obesity remains a critical health issue in America and the rate among children continues to rise.

Health statistics show the number of children ages 6 to 11 who are overweight has more than doubled in the past 20 years, while the number of overweight adolescents has tripled.

Pediatrician Tina Smith, MD, will present a community program discussing the issue of obesity in children from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Meeting Room A & B. She will explain the problem, the causes, and what families can do to help their children grow up healthier.

Dr. Smith practices at Kids Creek Children’s Clinic, 5024 N. Royal Drive in Traverse City. This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
