Munson Medical Center Needs Volunteers
Immediate openings available for ambassadors, patient escorts, and ER volunteers

Munson Medical Center Volunteer Services has immediate openings for ambassadors, patient escorts, and Emergency Department volunteers. Volunteer ambassadors assist patients, visitors, and staff throughout the hospital and Munson Professional Building with quality customer service.

“Our ambassadors are people who are patient, courteous, empathetic, discreet, and willing to go the extra mile,” said Theresa Stachnik, manager of Volunteer Services. “They also should feel comfortable talking with people.”

Ambassador candidates must feel comfortable addressing questions, giving directions, transporting patients by wheelchair, and providing personal assistance for both patients and visitors by walking them to their destination in a respectful and professional manner. Ambassadors are currently needed Monday through Friday from 8 am - noon, 10 am - 2 pm, and noon – 4:30 pm.

Patient escorts transport patients at discharge from their rooms to the Munson Medical Center greeters for assistance to their vehicles. This position requires comfort in talking with people and the physical ability to transport people using a wheelchair, Stachnik said. Openings are available Monday - Friday from 8 am - noon, 10 am – 2 pm, and noon - 4:30 pm.

Emergency Department volunteers visit patients to ensure they have everything they need while in the department. High level people skills are an important part of this service. Shift opportunities are available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 am - 1 pm, 1- 5 pm, and 5 - 9 pm.

All volunteers in these services need to be flexible and willing to help patients, visitors, and staff throughout the hospital and be able to walk throughout their shift. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum consecutive eight-month time period. Each volunteer shift is four hours once a week. Volunteers go through an orientation program and specific training for their duties.
