Paul Oliver Receives Two National Summit Awards
Hospital recognized for patient satisfaction in two departments
Satisfied patients promoted Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital back into the national spotlight for a double dose of honor.
The Frankfort hospital recently was recognized with two 2011 Summit Awards by Press Ganey Associates. The facility was honored for its continued high patient satisfaction scores in its Emergency Department for a third year in a row and also was recognized for its Outpatient Services for the first time. Just 20 hospitals of more than 1,700 in the country were recognized with ER patient satisfaction awards and just 13 hospitals received Outpatient Satisfaction awards at the annual awards ceremony in Dallas, Texas.
The Summit Award honors hospitals that rank in the top 5 percent in the U.S. for patient satisfaction for three consecutive years. Paul Oliver is one of four hospitals in the nation to be recognized with two awards for 2011.
“We are very excited and thankful to be recognized and honored first by our patients through their feedback provided to Press Ganey and now again with this national recognition,” said Donna Clarke, B.S.N., R.N., and Director of Clinical Services. “Our sustained high scores over the past five years are remarkable as we worked through our Emergency Department renovation project and added four new acute care rooms.”
Chief Operating Officer Peter Marinoff said he was extremely pleased to learn of the Outpatient Award. He immediately relayed the news to all staff and thanked them for their efforts in providing high quality care.
“We’re always thankful for the opportunity to hear what our patients think and for the confidence they have in our services,” he said. “We will continue to work hard so that Benzie-area residents receive the high quality care they deserve. Once again, this recognition validates the hard work of our employees and providers.”
Paul Oliver’s Emergency Department is the only one in Michigan to receive Press Ganey’s Summit Award three times in a row. Only two other hospitals in the state received outpatient awards this year.
