Pre-natal Yoga Class Helps Moms-to-Be Relax
Health Education Institute offers five-session class starting Jan. 16
The Health Education Institute, a partnership between Northwestern Michigan College and Munson Medical Center, offers future mothers a five-session pre-natal yoga class designed to promote relaxation and breathing that is helpful during labor and as a parent.
Each session blends relaxation and gentle yoga movements with a focus on breathing to support a calm body. “The class is suitable for any stage of pregnancy,” said Margaret Magner, instructor.
The class begins Monday, Jan. 16, and continues Mondays through Feb. 13. Classes are from 5 - 6 p.m. at Yoga for Health Education yoga studio. Cost is $69. Participants should wear comfortable clothes for movement.
Magner is a registered yoga teacher and a certified yoga therapist. She has taught yoga at NMC since 1997. Yoga for Health Education is located in The Village Center, 1200 W. 11th Street in Traverse City.
