Munson Librarian Offers Health Literacy Workshops
Learn how to talk with provider and find reliable health information online

Programs to help participants communicate with their health care provider and find reliable health information online will be offered at the Traverse Area District Library this month.

Munson Community Health Library Librarian Roberta Craig, MLIS, will lead both health literacy workshops as a means to provide participants with information to better educate themselves when health care issues arise. Information has been provided by the University of Minnesota Health Science Libraries and the Minnesota Health Literacy Partnership.

On Monday, Jan. 23, Craig will lead the session “Talking with Your Health Care Provider” from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the Traverse Area District Library’s McGuire Room. Participants will learn five tips to improve communication with their health care provider.

On Monday, Jan. 30, Craig will lead the session “Finding the Best Health Websites” from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the McGuire Room. Participants will learn how to select accurate health information online. There will be a hands-on demonstration with laptops available for investigating good consumer websites.

Both sessions are free and open to the public, however registration is required. For more information and to register, call the Munson Community Health Library at (231) 935-9265.

Traverse Area District Library is located at 610 Woodmere Ave. in Traverse City.
