Latest technology, educational materials, food tips, and more offered

Helping northern Michigan residents become more informed about diabetes prevention and management is the goal of Diabetes Day, Wednesday, April 11, at Bayview Wesleyan Church, 720 Wayne St. in Traverse City.
 
Sponsored by Munson Medical Center’s Diabetes Education, the open house is from 1 - 3 p.m. at the church. Residents will have opportunities to meet with physicians and diabetes educators, talk with representatives from medication and technology companies, and other health care professionals.
 
Participants are encouraged to bring their blood glucose meters for an accuracy check, and there also will be recipes and opportunities to sample healthy foods.
 
Physicians available include: internist Steven Lamie, MD, medical director of the Munson Diabetes Education program; podiatrist John Rialson, DPM; endocrinologist Jill Vollbrecht, MD; and ophthalmologist Jeffrey Wentzloff, MD.
