Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Wins Guardian of Excellence Award
Two Munson Healthcare Hospitals Win National Recognition
Press Ganey Associates says Kalkaska Memorial and Paul Oliver ERs rank at top
High patient satisfaction scores at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center’s and Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital’s emergency rooms garnered Munson Healthcare a 2013 Guardian of Excellence Award Winner by Press Ganey Associates.
The award recognizes top performing facilities that achieve the 95th percentile performance in patient satisfaction.
Fewer than 5 percent of all Press Ganey clients reach this threshold and consistently maintain it for the one-year reporting period. Press Ganey, a national performance improvement company, partners with more than 10,000 health care organizations worldwide.
“We appreciate this recognition, first from our patients and then Press Ganey, because it represents the fine effort our staff and providers put forth every day to provide quality emergency care to the Kalkaska area,” said Jim Austin, administrator at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Press Ganey CEO Patrick T. Ryan said his firm is proud to partner with the hospitals.
“Achieving this level of excellence reflects the organization’s commitment to delivering outstanding service and quality,” he said.
Kalkaska’s Emergency Department Manager Christine Bissonette, R.N., said the high marks from the survey by Press Ganey reflect hard work in trying to meet patient needs in the department. The unit is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Staff members typically see 12,000 patients a year.
Paul Oliver’s Leona E. Whitman Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department typically sees about 5,000 patients each year. Emergency care is available 24 hours a day, every day.
