Munson Patient/Family Advisory Council Seeks Members
Group helps hospital incorporate patient and family perspective into care

The 15-member Patient/Family Advisory Council at Munson Medical Center seeks new members.

The mission of the group is to help the hospital understand and incorporate the patient and family perspective to improve the delivery of care.

“Since starting the council a few years ago, we have received valuable input and feedback on a variety of issues at the hospital,” said Jim Fischer, R.N., vice president of Patient Care and chief nursing officer. “We encourage anyone who is 18 or older and who has either been a patient, or a family member of a patient at Munson Medical Center, to consider applying.”

The role of the group is to strengthen communication and collaboration with patients, families, as well as provide input and participate in developing health care programs, services, and policies. Applicants should be committed to improving the care for all patients and their families, willing to listen to differing viewpoints, and willing to commit to two to four hours per month.

Seventy-five percent of council members come from the public. Other members include the chief nursing officer, patient liaison, a medical social worker, and a registered nurse.
