Prescription Drug Abuse: Become Part of the Solution
Prescription Drug Abuse: Become Part of Solution
Counselor shares steps to help prevent abuse of medications
Prescription drugs are second only to alcohol in the category of abused substances.
More people in the U.S. die annually from drug poisoning than from vehicle crashes.
Catholic Family Services Prevention Coordinator Marybeth Novak will share how northern Michigan residents can help prevent prescription drug abuse at a program on Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 6 -7:30 p.m. in Meeting Room A & B at Munson Community Health Center.
Novak will cover the prevalence of prescription drug abuse, the most common types of drugs abused, steps adults can take to ensure they are part of the solution, and safe storage and disposal of potentially harmful over-the-counter medications.
The program is free and open to the public. However, seating is limited and registration is requested. For more information and to register, call the Munson Community Health Library at (231) 935-9265.
Munson Community Health Center is located at 550 Munson Ave. in Traverse City.
