Prevent Diabetes Problems: Keep Eyes Healthy
Ophthalmologist presents free program on diabetic eye disease

Regular visits to an ophthalmologist become important for eye health after a diabetes diagnosis.

High blood sugar, high blood pressure, smoking, and high cholesterol increase the risk of eye problems associated with the disease. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in adults ages 20 - 74.

Ophthalmologist J. Ryan McManus, M.D., will offer a free program from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 that will discuss the most current concepts and therapies for diabetic eye disease. The program will be in Munson Medical Center’s Conference Room 1. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

Dr. McManus recently relocated to Traverse City and is practicing at Grand Traverse Ophthalmology Clinic. He specializes in glaucoma and cataract surgery.

The presentation is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

For questions, call Munson’s Diabetes Education Department at (231) 935-8200 or 1-800-809-8127. Munson Medical Center is located at 1105 Sixth St. in Traverse City.
