Surgeon Offers Non-Invasive Heartburn Solution
New procedure through mouth treats acid reflux condition

Grand Traverse region residents suffering from gastroesophageal reflux now have an alternative to daily medications used to treat their painful chronic heartburn. An incisionless surgical solution is being offered by Munson Medical Center general surgeon Michael Nizzi, D.O.

Using transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF), Dr. Nizzi can, with minimal discomfort, repair the anti-reflux valve that allows acid to travel up the esophagus. Patients typically recover quickly after the procedure.

Dr. Nizzi will offer a seminar on the TIF procedure from 6 - 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in Munson Medical Center Conference Rooms 1 - 3. While the seminar is free and open to the public, registration is requested. For more information and to register, call 1-888-838-9160 or go to munsonhealthcare.org/mmcclasses. Dr. Nizzi practices at Grand Traverse Surgery in Traverse City.
