Munson Medical Center’s state-of-the-art Emergency Department opened in January 2007 with 43 patient rooms designed for private, safe, and secure emergency care. The department features three large trauma bays located steps away from the ambulance entrance, a CT scanner for immediate diagnostics, and an electronic patient and staff tracking system for timely, efficient delivery of care.
Munson Medical Center is verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons, one of 21 in the state and the only one in northern Lower Michigan. Munson works hand-in-hand with first-response emergency personnel to bring Level I and Level II trauma patients from across northern Michigan directly to the Emergency Department.
The Emergency Department is located on the ground floor of the Munson Heart Center for quick access to advanced cardiac intervention as needed.
Walk-in patients are greeted at the door and quickly assessed in a triage area. Munson’s Emergency Department physicians and staff consistently achieve high patient satisfaction scores.
