Munson Healthcare offers methods to relieve
patient anxiety before surgery and lessen pain afterwards. These
are in addition to environmental changes, such as softer lighting
in patient rooms, books, games, and toys, as well as herbal teas
after surgery.
These alternative therapies are available
for all patients, both young and old, who are having a procedure
or surgery at Munson Medical Center.

Guided Imagery/Relaxation
Tapes This is a process of directed daydreaming aimed
at easing stress and promoting a sense of peace and well-being
during a stressful time. Guided imagery and music can help a person
to relax and be more comfortable before and after surgery.
Music Patients
may listen to cassette tapes and CDs before, during and after
their surgery or procedure. A variety of tapes and CDs are available
for you to use. You may also bring your own music.
Spiritual
Support Chaplains and nurses are available to address
your individual needs. In addition to prayer and silence, bedside
wooden labyrinths are available for meditation.
If you are a Munson Healthcare patient and have a compliment,
concern, or complaint, please contact one of our Patient
