Emotions are a side of chronic illness or injury
that can't be treated by surgery or medication. Unfortunately,
many people with life-limiting conditions suffer emotional problems
but don't realize it. Others mistakenly believe that nothing can
help, or that they can simply pull themselves together. While
it's normal to occasionally feel discouraged, unhappy, or inadequate,
it's not okay to feel sad, anxious, or angry for long stretches
of time. It's wise to reach out for help when you can't recover
from such moods or when emotional difficulties (even if they're
not severe) begin to interfere with work, relationships, or other
aspects of your life.
There are support groups in across northern Michigan
that can provide encouragement, nurturing, and consolation for
individuals, families, and friends that have been touched by illness
or injury. For more information, visit the Calendar
of Events or call 1-800-4-MUNSON(800-468-6766).
