In Michigan all children under one year of
age must ride in an approved child restraint. Children under four
years of age must be secured in an approved child restraint/belt.
When traveling by motorcar, always place your
baby in a federally-approved car seat. For infants less than 20
pounds, safety seats must face the rear of the vehicle.
The safest location for your baby is in the
back seat, facing the rear of the vehicle. A car seat must never
be in the front seat. Air bags are a potential health hazard leading
to suffocation in young babies.
Most injuries are preventable. Buckle up yourself!
Your baby will need you for a long time to come, and will learn
by your example.
