There
are several things you as a parent can do to prepare for your
babys discharge. We have included the following suggestions:
Choose a pediatrician or health care provider
for your baby. Notify your provider that your baby will be discharged
soon. Ask when your first follow up appointment is and mark
it on your schedule.
Make sure you are comfortable taking care
of your babys needs. We recommend that you practice bathing
your baby, taking a temperature, and learn to perform infant
CPR.
Make sure you have the information that
you need to be able to administer any medications, handle any
equipment, or perform any procedures your baby may need.
You will need a car seat. Practice adjusting
the straps and putting the seat in your car. Make sure you have
the necessary supplies for your baby at home. Be prepared
have formula available at home before your babys discharge
date; contact the Public Health Department if you are using
the WIC program.
Review signs and symptoms of illness with
your babys physician and nurse. Know how and when to call
the physician if you should need to.
If you are a Munson Healthcare patient and have a compliment,
concern, or complaint, please contact one of our Patient
Liaisons.
