Women's Health Counseling is for women with substance
use problems who want to make positive changes in their lives.
Pregnant women and women in their childbearing years, with or
without children, are welcome to participate in counseling. A
professional counselor from Munson Medical Center, specializing
in women's and family counseling, provides services.
The CAGE Questionnaire
Have you ever felt that you should Cut
down on your drinking and/or drug use?
Have you ever felt Annoyed when others
criticize your drinking and/or drug use?
Have you ever felt Guilty about your drinking
and/or drug use?
Have you ever used alcohol and/or drugs in the
morning to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover? (Eye
Opener)?
If you answered "yes" to two or more questions,
you could have an alcohol or drug use problem. Counseling for
substance use is now available and it's free.
Assessment, individual, group, and family counseling
is available, and referral services are also provided. Counseling
sessions and assessments are held at the Grand Traverse and Benzie/Leelanau
County Health Departments. For your convenience, a home visit
can also be scheduled.
Counseling services are funded through a grant provided
by Northern
Michigan Substance Abuse Services. This grant picks up charges
for services and helps with transportation and daycare costs.
Services are confidential and cannot be shared unless
a release is signed that specifically states what information
will be shared with whom.
