Patient Access Services Rep Helps Lab Patient Meet Deadline

A patient’s blood sample needed to get to Detroit overnight, so Kendry Harkert stepped up to help.
Harkert, a senior patient access representative forPatient Access Services, works at the reception desk in the Munson Professional Building Lab. She listened last October as a patient explained to her the need to get a blood sample to determine if it was a match for a relative with cancer.
“It was a very urgent time frame, it (the blood sample) needed to go to Detroit overnight,” the patient wrote. “The courier had already left for that day. She was very thoughtful and called Fed Ex and helped us arrange other transport and then rushed us through the lab so we could make it there on time!”
The patient circled the Munson values of compassion, patients, people, and respect. Harkert is the winner of the MVP Parking Spot for the first quarter of 2013.
At Munson for three years, Harkert said she enjoys helping meet the need of patients. She appreciates the parking spot recognition for a couple of reasons. “It’s nice to be acknowledged for the hard work we put in,” she said. “I also love having it this winter. By the time I get here, I usually have to park at the top of the garage.”
