Family & Friends
Visitors can be good medicine for patients.
Family members and friends are welcome to visit. However, patient
care is our primary concern at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center
and in order to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting
hours and regulations have been established for each division
and unit. Visiting hours or regulations are available at the nurses'
desk on each unit. Please follow these guidelines. If you need
additional information, please check with the nurse on the unit.
Following are general guidelines for visitors:
- Visitors may not smoke in patient rooms
or anywhere in the hospital.
- Visitors must dress appropriately, and
must wear shirts and shoes.
- Visitors in semi-private rooms should be
considerate of both patients.
- People with colds, sore throats, or any
contagious diseases should not visit patients.
- Visits should be kept short. Visitors should
maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
- Visitors may be asked to leave the room
during tests or treatments, or when the physician or nurse needs
to see the patient.
Liberal visiting arrangements may be made
for families.
Condition Report
Your personal health care information will
only be released to those individuals that you designate. We will
ask you for authorization before releasing information to your
family and friends. Patient information will not be released or
discussed via telephone except as designated by you. Persons calling
for information will be referred to you or your designated spokesperson.
Gifts for Patients
Visitors should check with the nurse before
bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Please check with
the nurse to make sure your gift is appropriate. Please check
with the unit regarding any gifts for patients. Latex balloons
are discouraged because of increasing incidence of allergies.
Parking
Parking for patients and visitors is available
24-hours a day, seven days a week. All parking at Kalkaska Memorial
Health Center is free. Patients and visitors are cautioned not
to park in reserved or designated areas. Please be sure to lock
your car. If something happens and you need assistance with your
vehicle, please call the local police department.
In an emergency, passenger vehicles may park
overnight. Long-term parking arrangements for patient vehicles
should be made with Emergency Room staff. Public Health codes
prohibit overnight parking of temporary living quarters such as:
trailers, campers, or sleeper vans.
If you are a Munson Healthcare patient and
