Family & Friends
Visitors can be good medicine for patients.
Family members and friends are welcome to visit. However, patient
care is our primary concern at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital and
in order to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting hours
and regulations have been established for each division and unit.
Visiting hours or regulations are available at the Registration
Desk on the main floor. Please follow these guidelines. If you
need additional information, please check with the nurse on the
unit.
Following are general guidelines for visitors:
- Visitors may not smoke in patient rooms
or anywhere in the hospital.
- Visitors must dress appropriately, and
must wear shirts and shoes.
- Visitors in semi-private rooms should be
considerate of both patients.
- People with colds, sore throats, or any
contagious diseases should not visit patients.
- Visits should be kept short. Visitors should
maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
- Visitors may be asked to leave the room
during tests or treatments, or when the physician or nurse needs
to see the patient.
Liberal visiting arrangements may be made
for families under special circumstances.
Pastoral Services
There is a volunteer chaplaincy program to
meet the spiritual needs of patients and their families. Please
contact the Registration Desk to request the on-call Chaplain.
Your priest, minister, or rabbi is always welcome
to visit while you are here.
Waiting Areas
There are specifically designated lounge areas
for visitors in the Surgery and Emergency departments and on the
main floor in the lobby. During certain hours, a volunteer hostess
is on duty in the surgery waiting room to keep family members
informed about the progress of surgery. Please assist us in keeping
these areas clean. Thank you.
Condition Report
Your personal health care information will
only be released to those individuals that you designate. We will
ask you for authorization before releasing information to your
family and friends. Patient information will not be released or
discussed via telephone except as designated by you. Persons calling
for information will be referred to you or your designated spokesperson.
Gifts for Patients
Visitors should check with the nurse before
bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Please check with
the nurse to make sure your gift is appropriate. Latex balloons
are discouraged because of an increasing incidence of allergies.
Gift Shop
The gift shop, staffed by volunteers, is open
Monday through Friday from 9 am - 6 pm and on weekends from noon
- 6 pm. The shop carries gift items, jewelry, stuffed animals,
magazines, greeting cards, candy, toiletries, and flowers. They
accept checks and credit cards. The proceeds from the Gift Shop
are donated to support the Hospital's various programs.
Parking
Parking for patients and visitors is available
24-hours a day, seven days a week. All parking at Paul Oliver
Memorial Hospital is free. Patients and visitors are cautioned
not to park in reserved or designated areas. Please be sure to
lock your car. If something happens and you need assistance with
your vehicle, please notify Registration staff.
In an emergency, passenger vehicles may park
overnight. Long-term parking arrangements for patient vehicles
should be made with Emergency Room staff. Public Health codes
prohibit overnight parking of temporary living quarters such as:
trailers, campers, or sleeper vans.
Fire Drills
For your protection, the Hospital conducts fire
and disaster drills regularly. If a drill occurs while you are
here, please remain in your room and do not become alarmed. The
Hospital is a fire-resistant building, and the staff is trained
in fire protection.
If you are a Munson Healthcare patient and
have a compliment, concern, or complaint, please contact one of our Patient Liaisons.
We welcome your comments and suggestions about this Web site.
