Our clinical dietitians conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for inpatients to identify goals for improving nutritional intake and health. Individualized care plans are designed to meet the patient’s specific medical and lifestyle needs. Patients receive nutrition education as needed. Patients undergoing radiation and/or chemotherapy at Biederman Cancer Treatment Center can meet with a dietitian to ensure their nutrition is supporting their treatment and healing process. The dietitian also assists patients with dietary strategies to minimize side effects that may occur during cancer therapy.
Our dietitians provide nutrition resources for Munson Home Health nurses to help ensure their clients’ nutritional needs are being met.
Addiction Rehabilitation Program
Patients involved in addiction rehabilitation programs meet with a dietitian in a group setting to learn about the particular nutrition needs for those in recovery. The dietitian reviews strategies to improve diet for overall better health. Individualized nutrition counseling appointments are scheduled by nursing staff as needed.
The dietitians at Munson Medical Center are involved in many community programs. Lectures are offered to local women’s groups, elder programs, school programs, various support groups, and local businesses. Dietitians also participate in many community health fairs for various age groups.
Community Health and Wellness Classes
YMCA Youth WOW (Working on Wellness) Program for children ages 10 - 17 meet with a Munson dietitian five times during their four-month session to help them adopt a healthier lifestyle.
A variety of nutrition-related programs, taught by registered dietitians, are offered at Munson Medical Center. Classes are provided on a variable schedule.
