The Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital Foundation has pledged to raise $500,000 for Munson Medical Center’s ER project over five years.
“We are grateful for the generous support of the POMH Foundation and the spirit of cooperation and collaboration that it represents,” said Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation President Jay Zrimec. “We knew that a project of this magnitude would require the support of residents from throughout the region, and Benzie County has led the way with its pledge. We fully appreciate the effort it will take for them to raise those funds in addition to the efforts they make on behalf of their community hospital.”
Munson’s ER serves as a referral center for the 13 counties surrounding Grand Traverse County. More than 6 percent of Benzie County residents use Munson’s ER, and the number increases each year.
Four gatherings held in Benzie County last summer raised $31,300 towards the $500,000 pledge. Total fundraising in the county had reached $84,570 through December 2004.
