Munson Hospice House Seeks Volunteers
Opportunities are available for those 18 years old and older

Volunteers are an essential part of the services provided at Munson Hospice House.

Since opening its doors in April 2004, more than 1,100 patients have received care in its peaceful, home-like setting. Munson Hospice House is an eight-bed residence and offers care to hospice patients unable to stay in their own home, or for those without a caregiver or family able to assist them near their end of life.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and able to commit to eight hours a month between 7 am - 9 pm. Help is especially needed on weekends and evenings. Couples are encouraged to consider this volunteer opportunity. Volunteers may choose their level for involvement at Munson Hospice House and are trained accordingly.

Prior to the training, prospective volunteers are interviewed, screened, undergo a background check, and must complete a two-step tuberculin screening. All volunteers complete an independent self-study course in addition to a training class with other new volunteers at Munson Hospice House. All volunteers are required to have an annual flu vaccination.

Those who have experienced a significant loss through death in the past year and wish to volunteer at Munson Hospice House, are encouraged to wait at least one year before completing the application process.

The next volunteer orientation training will be held in February from 8:15 - 4 pm at Munson Hospice House.
