Are You Prepared to Spill the Beans?
Munson Advance Care Planning offers help with difficult conversations

Munson Advance Care Planning offers a free seminar that will help young and old ensure their loved ones know their medical wishes before those loved ones have to make a decision.

“Are You Prepared to Spill the Beans” is an opportunity from 2 - 3:30 pm on Saturday, Feb. 22, for participants to save loved ones stress and let one’s wishes be known should the need arise for a medical care directive. The meeting will be at The Coffee Bean Café, 2770 Silver Lake Road, in Traverse City.

“What if you had a stroke and you no longer knew who you were, where you were, or who you were with?” said Stephanie VanSlyke, RN, of Advance Care Planning, who will help lead the session. “What qualities in life are important to you?”

The session also will allow participants to develop answers for questions such as:
• Who do you want to make your medical decisions for you? Do they know what’s important to you?
• What does a healthy person need to decide now?
• Is there such as thing as being “too young” to talk about it?
• How do I know who the right person is to speak for me? Even when decisions could be hard?
• Is it really like what you see on TV?

While the seminar is free, registration is requested. To register, call (231) 935-7685 or email advancecareplanning@mhc.net.
