Kohl’s Cares Presents Check to Safety Program at Film Fest
Kohl’s 4 Season Safety program educates children on need for helmet use

The northern Michigan Kohl’s 4 Season Safety Program received a $54,267 donation from Kohl’s Cares® during the Traverse City Film Festival.

The safety program educates area school children about the need for helmet safety during both winter and summer activities such as sledding, skiing, and biking. The presentation was made Thursday, Aug. 2, during the film festival’s Kid’s Fest.

Kohl’s Cares has donated $326,306 to Munson Healthcare efforts to promote the health and safety of area children since 2006. The check represents last year’s profit from the sales of Kohl’s Cares book and plush sets at its Traverse City and Gaylord stores.

Munson Trauma Services educator Jennifer Ritter said Kohl’s funds have enabled the program to distribute hundreds of helmets to area schools and students, and nearly 4,000 students have been reached through the safety program.

“We continue to appreciate Kohl’s support for our efforts to help promote safe activities for area kids,” she said.

In support of communities it services, Kohl’s Cares has raised more than $208 million for children’s initiatives nationwide. Kohl’s is based in Menomonee Falls, Wis., and is a family focused, value-oriented specialty department store.
