The fixed wing aircraft is a King Air B200 with a flight crew consisting of a critical care flight nurse and flight paramedic.
North Flight can be activated by any medical authority including 911 dispatch centers, hospitals, physicians, police or fire departments, EMS providers, marine safety officers, and park service personnel. North Flight EMS provides an integrated transport system for critically ill and injured patients that includes:
- Nationwide fixed-wing services
- Helicopter services throughout Michigan's Lower Peninsula and eastern Upper Peninsula
- Ground ambulance services throughout northern Michigan

The fixed wing aircraft is a King Air B200 with a flight crew consisting of a critical care flight nurse and flight paramedic. The King Air has a 335 mph cruising speed and can be airborne in less than an hour after a request. This aircraft is available for both critical care air transports and non-emergent transports, when an otherwise healthy patient needs to be relocated.

- Accommodation for one patient, plus a family member who flies free of charge
- Air conditioned, pressurized cabin

North Flight's helicopter light turbine model, is capable of a 140 mph cruising speed with a range of 400 miles.

North Flight's helicopter, a light turbine model, is capable of a 140 mph cruising speed with a range of 400 miles. Added safety features include satellite weather reporting and night vision goggles. North Flight is the first air medical transport program in Michigan to utilize night vision goggles. Within minutes of a request, the helicopter and flight crew, consisting of a critical care nurse and flight paramedic, can be airborne.
The helicopter is equipped with:
- Advanced trauma equipment
- Air conditioned cabin
- Cardiac monitor and defibrillator
- Full complement of emergency medications
- Hospital to hospital transports
- Intravenous fluids and infusion pumps
- Invasive monitoring equipment
- Spine stabilization equipment
- Ventilator and advanced airway equipment
North Flight Air's primary response teams consist of registered nurses and paramedics who are highly trained in treating and transporting critically ill and injured patients. All North Flight clinical personnel are skilled in trauma life support, and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and advanced pediatric training.

North Flight is the largest Emergency Medical Service (EMS) provider in northern Michigan.
North Flight is the largest Emergency Medical Service (EMS) provider in northern Michigan, offering a range of service from basic transfers to a mobilized intensive care unit. North Flight maintains ground Advanced Life Support (ALS) operations in Cadillac, Manton, and Traverse City, and specialized ALS transport units in Alpena. This allows North Flight to respond to a broad geographic area to better serve our rural communities.
North Flight has the ability to upgrade an ambulance with a critical care nurse and specialty care trained paramedic when needed.
North Flight also staffs bicycle medics for special events throughout the Grand Traverse region, including the National Cherry Festival.
Additional Services
Staffing Contracts - North Flight provides staffing on a contractual basis to several EMS Units throughout the region.
Billing and Accounts Receivable Management Services - A growing number of EMS agencies in northern Michigan have enlisted this service. This allows them to focus on what they do best — helping people — while trained, experienced North Flight employees manage the paperwork and billing procedures for them.
Safety Program - North Flight employs a Safety Coordinator responsible for corporate-wide safety and infection control issues. This person is available, through contractual arrangements, to provide similar services to public service entities.
