When working for Big Brothers Big Sisters, one of Shawn’s Big Sisters in the program was a nurse and a social worker. This individual inspired Shawn to go back to school to get her Associates in Nursing. In 2008, Shawn graduated with her Associates Degree in Nursing from North Central Michigan Community College. Shawn then worked for two years on the medical/surgical floor at Otsego Memorial Hospital. After two years working on the floor as a nurse, Shawn decided to look for a position in nursing which combined both her nursing and social work experience.
