Munson Health
The Power of Working Together

Munson Healthcare’s leadership recognized long ago the need to develop regional partnerships to overcome the challenges we face in our rural region. Preserving local access to quality health care requires that we work together to ensure small community hospitals remain strong. Munson Healthcare’s unique mosaic of customized partnerships reflects the distinct nature of each hospital and each community.

Today, the system consists of a major tertiary referral medical center, seven rural-based hospitals including three Critical Access Hospitals, extensive outpatient treatment and rehabilitation facilities,   emergency, transportation, and home-based medical services covering 30 counties in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula and eastern portion of the Upper Peninsula.

Working together, hospitals and providers achieve economies of scale on equipment and supplies, share information seamlessly, and benefit from best practices through collaboration on clinical and operational processes. We recognize the strengths of each hospital, learn from each other, and have developed a mutually beneficial regional approach to the delivery of health care.

As a regional, nonprofit health care system, Munson Healthcare provides direct access to more than 950 physicians and providers, representing more than 50 specialties. Our eight hospitals include Charlevoix Area Hospital (Charlevoix) Kalkaska Memorial Health Center (Kalkaska), Mercy Hospital Cadillac (Cadillac), Mercy Hospital Grayling (Grayling), Munson Medical Center (Traverse City), Otsego Memorial Hospital (Gaylord), Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital (Frankfort), and West Shore Medical Center (Manistee). Services are also available at Munson Community Health Center (Traverse City) and Mercy Community Health Center (Prudenville). Munson Healthcare offers a continuum of health care services to people from 24 counties.

Munson Healthcare also works closely with Alpena General Hospital in Alpena and War Memorial Hospital in Sault St. Marie. Relationships with these facilities further ensure patients will have a smooth transition when the services of a larger medical center are needed.

What do you call 7,000 talented people working together to deliver superior service to patients in northern Michigan? We call it Munson Healthcare.
