Bayshore Build-Up: Tips, Strategies for a Great Race Day

Bayshore Marathon and other race competitors are invited to a session with experts on April 16 for tips and strategies to run the race, finish the course, and prevent injuries.

The free session will be at the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA West from 6 - 7 p.m. Registration is at 5:45 p.m., but is not mandatory.

Participants will learn practical tips on equipment, training plans, avoiding and recognizing injury, and race recovery.

Speakers include:

  • Traverse City Track Club Executive Director Lisa Taylor. She is also the cross-country and distance coach for Traverse City Central High School as well as a coach for area adult runners from beginners to marathon qualifiers.
  • Mandee McDonald, P.T., D.P.T., a physical therapist at Munson Medical Center who has been a runner for 26 years. She has completed four marathons, 10 half-marathons, and many 5Ks. She offers extensive experience in treating runners and athletes, and also provides community education for injury prevention and training.
  • Kelly Nash, P.T., D.P.T., a physical therapist at Munson Medical Center and life-long athlete. She has completed the Bayshore Marathon, four half-marathons, many 10Ks, and completed many olympic distance triathlons.
