January Seminar Explains Surgical Weight Loss Options

Obesity is one of the leading causes of unnecessary death in the United States. While bariatric procedures are not for everyone, surgical weight loss is dramatically improving the lives of people who commit to life-long changes in diet and exercise.

Northern Michigan residents considering bariatric surgery are invited to attend an informational seminar that will be presented at Cowell Family Cancer Center in Traverse City on Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. and streamed live to Munson Healthcare facilities.

Michael A. Nizzi, D.O., medical director of Munson Medical Center’s Bariatric Program, will discuss available surgical options, detail patient qualifications, and answer audience questions.

The Munson Medical Center Bariatric Surgery Program is fully accredited through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, administered jointly by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
