Munson Healthcare Hosts Exclusive Bariatric Q&A in Gaylord

02.13.2020

Gaylord-area residents considering bariatric surgery are invited to attend a special informational seminar on Monday, Feb. 24. The session will take place from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital’s OMH Classroom at 825 N. Center Ave.

Michael Nizzi, D.O., F.A.C.O.S., medical director of Munson Medical Center’s Bariatric Program, will lead a lively discussion of surgical options, patient qualification criteria, and audience questions.

“Obesity is a disease,” Nizzi said. “The truth is, obese patients may try different fad diets, and there may be short-term results. But in the long term, they end up at an even higher weight. I look forward to discussing a true lifestyle change and sharing the many benefits of our program.”

There is no charge to attend, however, registration is required. Register online at munsonhealthcare.org/bariatrics or call 231-935-9265

Obesity is one of the leading causes of unnecessary death in the United States. While bariatric procedures are not for everyone, surgical weight loss is dramatically improving the lives of people who commit to life-long changes in diet and exercise.

The Munson Medical Center Bariatric Surgery Program is fully accredited through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, administered jointly by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
