Nurse Residency Program

The Nurse Residency Program at Munson Healthcare helps new nurses successfully transition from nursing school to nursing practice. This is especially important during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, when experience in the hospital for student nurses was shortened or not available. Residents will develop both personal and professional networks to help them become part of their new community!

The Munson Healthcare Nurse Residency Program is a paid, year-long, extensive clinical orientation and professional development curriculum for new ADN and BSN graduates. Through our partnership with Vizient, our nursing residencies are evidence-based programs recognized by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) that include evidence-based education, simulation, seminars and community outings. The focus is on providing professional support, strengthening practice skills, building confidence, improving performance and encouraging team building, all within a supportive, nurturing atmosphere.

Residencies Available Now

We have residencies in many specialty areas, but right now we are looking for nurses to join our Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Residency Program where you will experience working in Cardiac Telemetry, Stroke Telemetry, General Medical, Adult Surgical Care, ED Observation, Medical/Surgical Telemetry, Orthopedics and Oncology.

Cohorts start in February and July each year, but Residents can start work at Munson Medical Center up to six months before the residency begins! 

  • Nurse Residents with start dates between March 1 thru August 31 will be in the July cohort
  • Nurse Residents with start dates between September 1 thru February 28 will be in the February cohort
