An Internist is a primary care physician who provides comprehensive care for adults. Internists are trained to understand disease prevention, wellness, mental health, and effective treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system, GI tract, heart, lungs, and reproductive organs. Internists often coordinate the specialists a patient might see in the process of treating an illness.
Geriatric Medicine
A Geriatric specialist has expertise in the aging process and special skills in the diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative aspects of illness in the elderly. They care for geriatric patients in the office, long-term care facilities, in the hospital, or specialized clinics.
