Our Amazing APPs

We would like to share our appreciation for our Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and their role on our Health Care Team.

In celebration of National PA Week (Oct. 6-12, 2019) and National NP Week (Nov. 10-16, 2019), we asked our Chief Medical Officers and Service Line Executive Directors to nominate amazing APPs.

Please join us in congratulating these honorees!

I am blessed to be able to work each day with my physician partners. By using a team based approach to patient care, I believe we are able to provide the best care possible for our community. I think that the role of APPs is evolving within the Munson System. It is my hope that going forward we will start to see more APPs in leadership roles.

According to US News & World Report 2019, Physician Assistants were ranked as the #1 job in health care and #3 job overall. I look genuinely look forward to going to work every day, so I'm not surprised to see those statistics. I thoroughly enjoy developing relationships with my patients and their families - it's incredibly rewarding.

Joan Eddy, NP

MHC Grayling Hospital
I have been practicing as a Physician assistant for 20 years now, the last 16 in Grayling. It has been a privilege and a challenge to care for the diverse population in my home community. The doctors, APPs, and hospital staff are clearly knowledgeable, dedicated, and valuable individuals with whom I am proud to be associated.

Matthew Hays, PA-C

Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital
I am grateful each day for the opportunity and ability to help the patients seeking care in our Munson Healthcare system. APPs have become an integral component of the nation’s ability to meet its health care needs, especially in northern Michigan and will continue to improve outcomes for our patients.

Andrij Lawrin, PA-C
Munson Hospice & Palliative Medicine
Munson Medical Center
As a palliative care APP provider at MMC, it is an honor to be able to help guide/support patients and their families during a very stressful time in their lives. As we all can imagine, dealing with a serious illness can have a multitude of effects on each individual and being able to help guide patients has been a rewarding and humbling experience. In addition, this ability to serve our patients is due to the unwavering support that the palliative care team receives from all the other team members here at the hospital and in the community (including all the physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, case managers, social workers, etc.).

Krista McNamara, PA-C
Crawford Continuing Living Center
MHC Grayling Hospital
Caring for the elderly is an honor and a privilege. My job as an Eldercare physician assistant is challenging, rewarding, and fun. Our team (which consists of physicians and APPs) is making a difference in our community by providing consistent, high quality care to the aging population. One of the best parts of my job is the ability to form long-term relationships with our residents and their families.

Shenna Meredith, NP

Munson Medical Center
I feel very blessed to have a career that I truly love, and am honored to work alongside many extraordinary NPs and PAs.

Mistey Rayl, NP

MHC Grayling Hospital
I am honored to have been recognized and nominated among an amazing group of APPs. I feel extremely blessed and fortunate to be able to provide care for those in our community and the surrounding areas. I believe the teamwork approach and the genuine desire to provide exceptional care of our entire Patient Diagnostic Center (PDC) team is evident through our interactions with each of the patients we have the privilege of serving in the PDC unit.

Cole Strange, PA-C
Emergency Physicians Medical Group
MHC Cadillac Hospital
I have been blessed with an exceptional team of providers in the ER who practice with a patient centered culture. They keep me sharp, humble, and motivated. I wouldn’t be who I am today without their influence.

Karri Vaughan, PA-C
Munson Urgent Care
Munson Medical Center
APPs in the Munson Healthcare system play an integral role in the delivery of high quality and safe care to our patients. We have the knowledge, empathy and expertise to collaborate with our amazing physicians to ignite throughput, patient care management and overall access to health care. By working together we are able to create a truly patient-centered environment. I have recently expanded my responsibilities to include formal leadership within the system, and I thank Munson Healthcare for encouraging APPs to provide input and decision making responsibilities with regards to how we deliver health care to our community.

And to ALL of the Munson Healthcare APPs, thank you for the amazing things that you do for patients and their families each and every day!
