Cerner Ambulatory - Implementation

Munson Healthcare is a regional, non-profit healthcare system that provides a continuum of healthcare services to people across 30 counties, offering direct access to more than 950 physicians and providers, representing more than 75 specialties. To support a system of this size and maintain the high quality patient care Munson Healthcare is known for, it is important that we are able to share information seamlessly and benefit from best practices through collaboration on clinical and operational processes.

In 2016, Munson Healthcare partnered with ECG Management Consultants (formerly Kurt Salmon), a best-in-class healthcare consulting firm, to develop a comprehensive IT strategy to improve infrastructure, security and information sharing between our Health Care Team. During this process, it became clear that our system is in need of a single EHR platform that will allow for the best regional alignment and health system integration.

In January of 2017, it was announced that Cerner has been chosen as the Munson Healthcare system EHR for both inpatient and ambulatory settings. Additionally, the Munson Healthcare Board of Directors and Munson Healthcare’s Finance Committee approved funding for Phase One of the Cerner implementation.

Cerner Ambulatory – Phase One will occur in 2017 and early 2018 and will address the higher priority concerns outlined in the IT Strategic Plan. These priorities include addressing IT governance, security and staffing and the implementation of Cerner Ambulatory into our employed practices that are currently using NextGen.

Please visit the Cerner Ambulatory webpage to learn more about Phase One.
