Education and Training

After our Cerner education sessions in the spring, we asked for input from providers on whether or not those sessions adequately prepared them for go-live. Consistently, we heard that four hours was not enough time to go through all of the aspects of the workflows and that more education was needed.  Industry best practice also shows that more training time is necessary in order for providers and staff to be successful.

Based on this feedback, we have developed a mandatory one-day classroom education session for providers that will include:

  • 6 hours of scenario based classroom education

  • 1 hour personalization session

  • 1 hour Dragon session

How will this education be different?

  • There is a much more robust patient build in the Cerner education domain, which will allow for complete workflow education on more clinical scenarios.

  • Personalization and dragon education will be included.

When will the education be held?

  • Classroom education will be held from October 22 through December 1

  • Classes will be offered in the computer classrooms located in Cadillac, Grayling, Kalkaska and Traverse City.

  • Practice Managers are responsible for enrolling providers and staff in classroom training beginning September 7 using Acuity Online Scheduling.  Based on availability, providers may be required to travel for education. More details on staff training coming soon!

This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™

Beginning in September, we will be doing on-site visits to review high impact future state workflows with practice super users. This will help practices identify processes and staff changes that are need to accommodate standard workflows and implement changes prior to conversion. Scheduling details will be coming soon!
