Our diabetes self-management course can help you learn how to live well with diabetes. People who complete this program have a better understanding of diabetes, are able to make changes to improve their health, develop skills to manage their diabetes, and typically see a reduction of their A1C. A referral is required. After receiving your referral, a diabetes educator will develop a care plan to meet your specific needs and schedule you for two group classes. During the two-part course, you will learn:
- Basics about diabetes and how it affects your body
- How to choose healthy food
- Ways to be active
- How to safely take medication
- How to monitor your blood sugar
- How to problem solve
- Healthy ways to cope
- How to reduce your risk
Cardiologists and nurse practitioners from Traverse Heart & Vascular provide preventive, diagnostic, and testing services. If your physician refers you for a consultation or cardiac evaluation, we can do a full diagnostic work-up here in Prudenville so you don’t have to travel to Traverse City. We can perform tests quickly, often within a few days of your provider’s request. And our staff provides a safe, comfortable experience during your evaluation.

No appointment needed (except for glucose tolerance tests). Simply bring your physician’s order and insurance information. Your results will be sent to your doctor quickly, usually within 24 hours. We provide the newest lab procedures and technologies, efficient services, and we talk you through your test to make sure you’re comfortable and well-informed.
Kalkaska Memorial Surgical Services offers elective outpatient surgery and procedures in our state-of-the-art surgical suite. Our team includes physical and occupational therapists, therapy assistants, and certified exercise instructors who specialize in post-operative orthopedic, post-stroke rehabilitation and aqua therapy. The Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Walk-in Clinic is an extension of Kalkaska Medical Associates. The clinic offers extended hours and is designed for patients who do not have or are unable to schedule an appointment with their primary care provider. You do not have to be a patient of Kalkaska Medical Associates to be seen or receive treatment.
The Walk-in Clinic is located inside the Medical Office Pavilion with patient entry at the blue awning.
