The Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation and Paul Oliver Foundation enjoy long traditions of generous support from community members — support that continues to advance health care services in northern Michigan.
The foundations have a dual role: Providing additional funds for health services, and helping community members sustain or enhance programs that match their values, allowing them to make a real and significant difference in the lives of others.
The Paul Oliver Foundation voted in May 2007 to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital (POMH), and thus Munson Healthcare. The POMH Foundation still has a separate Board, but shares the staff of the Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation.
Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital (POMH) in Frankfort has served the Benzie County area since 1951. In 1986, Paul Oliver was acquired by Munson Healthcare, whose mission is to provide advanced health care services to people close to home. Paul Oliver fulfills that mission by providing 24-hour emergency care, acute care, outpatient surgery, rehabilitation services, and diagnostic services, such as CT scans. Recently, it was one of only 14 hospitals in the nation to receive a 2009 Summit Award for emergency care from Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The Summit Award was presented for ranking in the top 5 percent in the nation for patient satisfaction for 12 consecutive quarters.
Projects supported by community donations have a profound effect on the lives of those who need those services. Recent examples include the Smith Family Breast Health Center, Munson's state-of-the-art Emergency Department, the Munson Hospice House, Munson Manor Hospitality House, and expanded technology and services at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital.
Through a network of dedicated volunteers and staff, both Foundations raise, manage, and return funds to the communities served by Munson Healthcare for improved access to health care.
By integrating the philanthropic activities of Munson Healthcare, the Foundations help its affiliates meet the future, unprecedented demands for health care services in northern Michigan. Philanthropy plays a prominent role in the future growth of Munson Healthcare.
