The 2018 Northern Michigan HIV Summit for health care professionals and the public is set for 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, at Northwestern Michigan College’s Hagerty Conference Center.
Thomas Judd Care Center Manager David Rushlow said the free HIV Summit will offer information on advances in HIV treatment and prevention, and the urgent need for testing in northern Michigan. Continuing education credits are available.
Keynote speaker will be Jeanne White-Ginder, mother of Ryan White. Ryan had hemophilia and contracted AIDS in 1984 at age 13 following a transfusion from a tainted blood product. He died in 1990 and Jeanne travels the country to share her story and to educate teens and adults on the personal, family, and community issues related to HIV/AIDS.
National HIV/AIDS Disability Project founder Joshua Moore also will discuss “Navigating HIV Disclosure Law.” He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Federal Bar Association, the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives, the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and the Stonewall Bar Association.
