05.10.2022

Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord is among three Munson Healthcare hospitals to receive an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2022. The twice yearly report card from the hospital quality organization was released today.

Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital and Munson Medical Center in Traverse City also received “A” marks while Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital, received a “B” grade.

“We are proud of the efforts of staff, physicians, and all involved in ensuring our health system provides high-quality care,” said Joe Santangelo, M.D., Chief Quality and Safety Officer at Munson Healthcare. “These grades reflect a continued emphasis on patient safety and enduring efforts to keep our patients at the center of all we do.”

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog group that examines hospital quality and safety, assigning an A, B, C, D, and F grade based on how safe the facility is for patients.
The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Grade was developed under the guidance of a national panel and national measures of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital President Chris Squire said the “A” grade carries significance beyond the top mark because of the added pressures and challenges of the pandemic.
“I am extremely proud and thankful for the amazing work that occurs here every day,” he said. “Our patients are our neighbors, community members, and friends, and our staff and physicians treat them with compassion and respect. This grade reflects their outstanding efforts.”

The hospital safety grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed with results that are free and accessible to the public.
