Munson Medical Center Laboratory Services in Northport will close at the end of October.
Laboratory Director Bonnie Torres said the hospital has provided lab services in the community for the past several years, but low volumes make it hard to keep the doors open.
“Given our low volume of patients at the Northport lab, we decided not to renew our lease,” Torres said. “We are working to ensure area patients have a smooth transition to other lab locations in Leelanau and Grand Traverse counties.”
Empire Community Health Center continues to offer lab services at 9975 West Ottawa Ave., in Empire. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
